Soccer is a Kick in the Grass now broadcasting year-round

Soccer is a Kick in the Grass, North America’s longest running soccer radio show, has announced that the program will begin broadcasting on a year-round basis starting in October, 2009. For the past 5 years, the show has aired only during the United Soccer Leagues season. The show’s hosts, Joe Sirianni and Andrew Battisti, felt the current state of important news coming from both North American and international soccer warrants this move to a full calendar year schedule. The pair announced the change on the October 12th edition of the show.

Mr. Battisti commented, “With all of the soccer news presently surrounding the Rochester Rhinos, the United Soccer Leagues, MLS and the 2010 World Cup, Joe and I felt it was important to remain on the air each and every week to provide the most current and up-to-date information, interviews and opinion to both our local and internet listeners.”

In a related decision, Soccer is a Kick in the Grass will move its live weekly broadcast to Sundays from 12-1 p.m. ET beginning on October 25th and continuing to the end of March, 2010. This day and time change will allow the show to be broadcasted at the full 20,000 watt power of its flagship station, News Power 1040, WYSL-AM. The show will return to its regular Monday time slot at 6:30 p.m. ET on WYSL in April, 2010.  Soccer is a Kick in the Grass will continue to be heard live and via podcast on the Internet at www.soccerisakickinthegrass.com and www.wysl1040.com.
